Living in Qatar will open up many travel opportunities. Here are some ideas for a weekend getaway.

One of the most exciting things about living in Qatar is the travel opportunities it will afford you. This centrally located country makes travelling very easy. So, whether you want to get away for the weekend or for a longer break, you can hop on a plane and visit Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, Dubai, Sri Lanka or even the Maldives.

Kuwait

Just 1.5 hours away by plane from Doha, the “Hollywood of the Gulf” is a coastal country offering more than most people think. From history and shopping to dining and entertainment, there is much to see and do. If you’re a history lover, visit the Tareq Rajab Museum and immerse yourself in the colourful history of this beautiful country. Shop ‘til you drop at the Souq Al-Mubarakiya market or learn more about Islamic culture at the Grand Mosque. For the more adventurous, go scuba diving at Kobar Island where you can experience an underwater wonderland of stingrays, fish and coral reefs.

Jordan

Known as the Jewel of the Middle East, Jordan has remained a neutral destination despite the conflict outside of its borders. Steeped in history, beauty and culture, Jordan is a holiday destination you won’t easily forget. Visit the City of Petra, one of the great ancient cities of the world. Float in the Dead Sea, take a therapeutic mud bath or enjoy a day of canyoning in Wadi Mujib. With so many things to see and do in Jordan, you might need more than just a weekend.

Egypt

A place where bucket lists get ticked off, Egypt is a hustle and bustle of activity. Take a city tour and find out how papyrus was made and visit a perfume shop. Dubai

From shopping complexes, galleries and awe-inspiring architecture to adrenaline-pumping activities like zip lining, skiing and more, there is something for everyone. Visit the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa or keep the kids entertained at the world’s largest waterpark, Aquaventure. Whatever you choose to do, Dubai won’t let you down.

Sri Lanka

If you’re looking for an exotic breakaway, Sri Lanka is one of the best destinations in the world. From beautiful beaches, hills and jungles to ancient monuments, culture, history, wildlife, and excellent food, it’s a paradise for visitors.

The Maldives
